ExoMad Green operates a project in Bolivia focused on producing sustainable biochar, contributing to climate change mitigation and local community development. This project utilizes forest and agricultural waste to produce biochar, emphasizing carbon sequestration and soil fertility enhancement.
Biochar is a material produced by the pyrolysis of organic matter in a high-temperature, oxygen-free environment. It serves as a soil enhancer while also acting as an effective carbon removal technology, storing atmospheric carbon for the long term.
1. Climate Change Mitigation The production of biochar removes carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and stores it securely. ExoMad Green collaborates with global companies like Swiss Re and Microsoft to execute large-scale carbon removal projects, helping achieve carbon neutrality goals.
2. Soil Improvement Biochar enhances soil water retention and nutrient-holding capacity. It enriches poor tropical soils, leading to increased agricultural productivity.
3. Local Economic Development This project works with indigenous communities in Bolivia to create sustainable jobs, fostering economic self-reliance and development in the region.
4. Waste Management The project converts forest and agricultural waste into biochar, addressing waste management issues and reducing environmental pollution.
ExoMad Green has been recognized in the global carbon removal market, achieving impressive sales performance through partnerships with major corporations.
Swiss Re ExoMad Green signed a 7-year contract with Swiss Re, a Swiss reinsurance company, to supply a minimum of 70,000 tons of biochar-based carbon removal credits. This agreement, supported by biochar produced at ExoMad Green's Riberalta facility, contributes to climate change mitigation and Swiss Re’s carbon neutrality goals.
Microsoft ExoMad Green also partnered with Microsoft, supplying over 32,000 tons of carbon removal credits. This agreement plays a critical role in helping Microsoft achieve its carbon neutrality targets.
